Council of Van Zandt County Communities Vision

The non-profit charitable organization, CVZCC, is an association of people and communities in Van Zandt County. With support in the community, the organization can influence change at the legislative, economic, and administrative levels.

The mission of the organization is to benefit people as well as communities, schools, and government services. To do this, communications are established both between the cities of the county and with their communities. Thematic events for citizens are held at all levels (local, county, state), and there’s a social credit system for active participation in developing and supporting the county.

History and Domestic System

The Council of Van Zandt County Communities Vision was incorporated in the summer of 2006 as a non-profit organization, although CVZCC actually began much earlier.

The association held its first meeting in 1996, Canton (Texas) as the Van Zandt County Group of Cities.

In September, volunteers met again to proclaim the creation of thematic committees with a single goal of developing the tourism industry. They made a list of the county’s tourist attractions and created a plan to attract tourists. The committees were established under the patronage of Tinna Berry, Joe Bob Johnson, Lynn Kitchens, and Jo Ann:

  • Tourism Committee;
  • Brochure Committee;
  • Finance Committee.

Other meetings were held that focused on measures to regulate homeless animals in the county. There were also legislative meetings in 2019, with Texas representatives.

CVZCC receives financial support from public and business charitable donations. Anyone interested can visit the CVZCC headquarters, located at 12379 County Rd 352, Terrell, Texas 75161.

A board of directors is elected every 2 years. Members who curate programs and activities of Council of Van Zandt County Communities Vision take part in the voting. Letty Clark was fortunate enough to become the organization’s first president. Then Mary Scott, Lynn Kitchens, Tommie Aududell, California Cockrell, and Judy Rownton served as President.

Biweekly meetings are held at the Van Zandt Country Club where crucial issues on the agenda are at stake. July is the only month when CVZCC does not hold any meetings.

The meetings are attended not only by members of the organization but also by the Senator, County Judge, and other Van Zandt officials. This allows for getting things done fast, as well as developing the county for the benefit of the entire community.
